Terms of Service
Last updated: 2 June 2026
Scope: The mobile app "Journeys" (iOS) and the associated website at https://getjourneys.app
Provider: Lukas Seitz, Siemensstraße 1, 93055 Regensburg, Germany, email: support@getjourneys.app
Note on language versions: This English version is provided for your convenience. The legally binding version of these Terms is the German original at https://getjourneys.app/terms-de. In the event of any inconsistency between the German original and this translation, the German version prevails.
Section 1 — Scope and Contracting Parties
(1) These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the mobile application "Journeys" (the "App") and the associated online services (collectively, the "Services") by you (the "User" or "you").
(2) The provider of the App is Lukas Seitz, Siemensstraße 1, 93055 Regensburg, Germany ("Provider" or "we").
(3) By creating an account or, at the latest, by first using the App, you accept these Terms. Any conflicting terms of yours will not become part of the contract.
Section 2 — Description of Services
(1) Journeys is a travel planning and travel journal app. Its features include, among others: creating and managing trips, adding stops and places, syncing across devices, optional community reviews, search and map functions, AI-assisted suggestions, journal and packing-list features, and importing content from social media.
(2) The App is currently free of charge. We reserve the right to introduce paid features or subscriptions in the future. We will notify you of such changes at least 30 days before they take effect, within the App.
(2a) The following conditions apply to any future in-app purchases and subscriptions:
Payment processing is handled exclusively by Apple (App Store). We do not receive or store any payment data.
Subscriptions auto-renew for the selected period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
Cancellation is performed exclusively via your Apple ID settings on your device (Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions). Cancellation through us is technically not possible, as Apple manages the subscription contract.
Refunds are subject exclusively to Apple's refund policy.
Price changes for ongoing subscriptions will be communicated to you at least 30 days before they take effect, in the App and/or by email. You may object to the price change; in that case, your subscription will end at the end of the current period.
(3) We strive for the highest possible availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. Maintenance windows will be announced in the App in advance whenever possible.
(4) External services (e.g. map display, place search) depend on the availability of third parties and may be temporarily unavailable.
Section 3 — Contract Formation and Registration
(1) Registration is required to use the full functionality of the App. Sign-in is performed via Apple Sign-In or via a magic link sent to your email address.
(2) You confirm that your information (in particular your email address) is truthful, and you confirm that you are at least 16 years old. Minors under the age of 18 require the consent of a legal guardian.
(3) Only one account per person is permitted. Multiple accounts intended to circumvent suspensions are prohibited.
(4) You are required to keep your access credentials confidential. If you suspect unauthorised use, please notify us immediately at support@getjourneys.app.
Section 4 — Obligations and Rules of Conduct
Journeys has a zero-tolerance policy for objectionable content and for abusive behaviour towards other users. Content that violates these Terms or our Community Guidelines will be removed, and the accounts responsible may be warned, suspended, or permanently deleted. You can report objectionable content at any time directly in the App (the "Report" function available on every review) and block users whose content you no longer wish to see. We review reports within 24 hours.
(1) When using the App, you agree to comply with applicable law. In particular, the following is prohibited:
distributing unlawful, insulting, defamatory, violent, pornographic, or youth-endangering content,
infringing copyrights, trademarks, or personality rights of third parties (e.g. uploading other people's photos without permission),
attempting to circumvent or impair the technical security of the App (e.g. automated requests, reverse engineering, bypassing rate limits),
creating reviews that you did not write yourself or that are not based on your own experience ("fake reviews"),
harassing or threatening other users,
commercial use of your account without our express consent (e.g. advertising in reviews).
(2) Our Community Guidelines apply in addition for reviews, reports, and other user-generated content. They form part of these Terms.
(3) For content you upload (in particular public reviews), you grant us a simple, geographically and temporally unrestricted, royalty-free licence required to operate the App (e.g. display to other users, translation into other languages, technical processing). You remain the rights holder and may delete your content at any time.
(4) If your account is deleted (either by you or by us): your public reviews will be anonymised (your name replaced with "Deleted User") but remain visible, as other users and our community rely on these reviews. If you wish to have your reviews fully deleted, you can request this by email to support@getjourneys.app — we will normally honour such requests within 30 days, unless statutory retention obligations apply. Private content (e.g. trips, journal entries, notes) is fully deleted upon account deletion; for details see our Privacy Policy.
Section 5 — Reports, Moderation, and Response
(1) You can report content of other users (e.g. reviews, comments) that violates these Terms or the Community Guidelines using the in-app "Report" function on each review, or by email to support@getjourneys.app.
(2) We will process reports within 24 hours of receipt and, where justified, take appropriate action. This may include:
temporarily or permanently hiding the reported review,
warning the author,
temporarily or permanently suspending the account,
in particularly serious cases, reporting to law enforcement authorities.
(3) You will be informed of the outcome of your report — to the extent permitted under data protection law — by email or in-app message.
(4) You may appeal against a moderation decision at any time by email to support@getjourneys.app. We will re-examine the decision and respond within 14 days.
Section 6 — Suspension and Account Termination
(1) You may delete your account yourself at any time (App settings → Profile → Delete account). Upon deletion, all mutual obligations under these Terms end (except for claims that have already arisen).
(2) We may suspend or delete your account if you repeatedly or seriously violate these Terms or the Community Guidelines. Before a permanent suspension, we will — where reasonable — issue a warning with an opportunity to respond.
(3) If we delete your account, you will be informed by email. Data deletion takes place in accordance with the retention periods set out in our Privacy Policy.
(4) We reserve the right to discontinue the App in the future. In that case, we will inform you at least 60 days in advance, within the App, and give you the opportunity to export your data.
Section 7 — Availability, Maintenance, Updates
(1) We strive for high availability. Maintenance may temporarily lead to impairments; we announce these in the App whenever planned in advance.
(2) We may update the App at any time, in particular to fix security vulnerabilities, adapt to new iOS versions, or extend functionality. For critical updates (e.g. a new minimum version), you may be required to install a newer version of the App to continue using it.
Section 8 — Liability
(1) Our liability is limited to damages we or our vicarious agents have caused intentionally or through gross negligence.
(2) For slight negligence, we are only liable for the breach of essential contractual obligations (cardinal duties), and only up to the amount of the contract-typical, foreseeable damage.
(3) The above limitations of liability do not apply to:
damages arising from injury to life, body, or health,
claims under the German Product Liability Act,
maliciously concealed defects,
expressly assumed guarantees.
(4) We are not liable for content posted by other users in the App (e.g. reviews, comments). Such content does not reflect our opinion.
(5) We are not liable for damages caused by external third-party services (e.g. Apple, Google, Mapbox, Anthropic).
Section 9 — Data Protection
Information on the processing of personal data can be found in our Privacy Policy. The Privacy Policy is not part of these Terms, but a separate notice in accordance with Article 13 GDPR.
Section 10 — Changes to These Terms
(1) We may change these Terms when this is necessary due to changes in legal requirements, new features, or to clarify ambiguities.
(2) We will notify you of changes at least 30 days before they take effect, by email or in-app notice. You may object to the change; in that case, the contractual relationship ends at the time the new Terms take effect.
(3) If you do not object to the change within the period stated, it will be deemed accepted. We will specifically inform you of this consequence in the change notice.
Section 11 — Travel Content and AI Suggestions
(1) The App provides information about places, routes, opening hours, maps and travel recommendations. This information comes partly from external services (e.g. Google Places, Apple Maps, Mapbox) or from user-generated content (reviews, tips from other users). It may be inaccurate, outdated or incomplete.
(2) You use the App and its recommendations at your own risk. To the extent permitted by law, we make no warranty regarding:
the accuracy of addresses, coordinates, opening hours, prices or availability,
the actual existence or accessibility of recommended places (e.g. closed restaurants, cancelled events),
the accuracy of route calculations, travel times or distance information,
damages or disadvantages resulting from following App recommendations (e.g. missed connections, additional costs, wasted trips).
(3) The App uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) for suggestions, translations, route recommendations and similar features (in particular via Anthropic). AI-generated content may be inaccurate, incomplete or misleading. You are required to verify AI suggestions on your own responsibility before acting on them — in particular for safety-relevant decisions (e.g. routes into unfamiliar areas, food recommendations for allergies, medical advice). Our liability for AI outputs is governed by the general liability rules set out in Section 8.
(4) For travel to unfamiliar or high-risk regions (e.g. remote areas, outdoor activities, politically unstable countries or countries with official travel warnings), please consult additional official sources (e.g. your country's foreign office). The App does not replace professional travel advice, travel safety briefings, or medical, legal or governmental advice.
Section 12 — Special Conditions for the Apple App Store
These provisions apply in addition if you obtain the App via the Apple App Store. In the event of a conflict between these App Store provisions and the rest of these Terms, these App Store provisions prevail — but only to the extent required by the Apple Developer Program License Agreement.
(1) The contract for the use of the App is concluded exclusively between you and us (Lukas Seitz). Apple Inc. and its subsidiaries (collectively, "Apple") are not parties to the contract and are not responsible for the App or its content.
(2) Apple merely provides the platform (App Store) for the distribution of the App. Apple has no obligation whatsoever to provide maintenance or support for the App. Any inquiries regarding support, warranties, product liability, or third-party intellectual property infringement should be directed exclusively to us at support@getjourneys.app.
(3) In the event of a defect of the App that is not covered by applicable warranty disclaimers, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (where applicable). Apple makes no warranties beyond that. Any further claims arising from defects are directed exclusively against us.
(4) You represent that you are (i) not located in a country that is subject to a US Government embargo or designated by the US Government as a "terrorist supporting" country, and (ii) not listed on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
(5) In the event of intellectual property infringement claims by third parties arising from the App, we (and not Apple) are responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement and discharge of any such claims.
(6) Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms. By accepting these Terms, you agree that Apple shall have the right (and shall be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.
Section 13 — Final Provisions
(1) Applicable law: German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. For consumers, mandatory consumer protection provisions of the state in which the consumer has their habitual residence remain unaffected.
(2) Place of jurisdiction: To the extent permitted by law, the place of jurisdiction is the registered office of the Provider. For consumers, the statutory place of jurisdiction applies.
(3) Dispute resolution: The European Commission provides an online dispute resolution platform (ODR): https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. We are not obliged and not willing to participate in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.
(4) Severability clause: Should any provision of these Terms be invalid, the validity of the remaining provisions remains unaffected. The invalid provision shall be replaced by the statutory rule.
